BLOGS AS AN ASSESSMENT TOOL
Learning Objective Four: Students will summarize their learning in the class by creating “My Personal Philosophy of Teaching” blog entry with at least 80% accuracy according to the rubric provided.
Activity: At the end of the Educational Psychology class, students will have a culminating activity of articulating their personal philosophy of teaching. There will have been many eye-opening readings and activities throughout the course which will help them to formulate their philosophy as they proceed through the class. Most of the faculty in the class are content experts who are just beginning their teaching career so they have not had an opportunity to think about their teaching philosophy. This activity will give them a chance to think about it and share it with others in the class using the blog tool. Bloom's Level: Creating
Assessment Tool: The students will post their philosophy using the blog tool within Blackboard. The blog is a perfect tool for this activity as a blog is a platform for individuals to post their opinions and comments. Students can post videos, pictures, written word or however they would like to display their personal philosophy.

Diversity: This activity appeals to many learning styles and intelligences as each individual has the option of posting their blog entry using whatever media they would like. It also appeals to intrapersonal intelligence as it is an opportunity to think about one's personal philosophy of teaching.
Plagiarism: There is little chance of plagiarism as a philosophy of teaching is very personal and individual.

- Students may not understand the difference between blogs and wikis (Video below is a fun way to help)
